2006 J. Davies Cabernet Sauvignon
“Bright aromas of boysenberry and cassis combine with mulled spice, orange peel, and cassia bark. The palate is dense, complex and fruitful. Wild blueberry and blackberry mingle with clove and black tea spice, which are seamlessly brought together with integrated tannins that sustain a long and luxurious finish.”
- Hugh Davies & Sean Thompson, Winemakers Elegance and complexity with a deep dark berry structure characterize this serious Diamond Mountain hillside wine. While showing purity of fruit from this southernmost vineyard on Diamond Mountain, it's still remains softer than most hillside wines, which is a tribute to the special terroir here on the Schramsberg estate, and the capable hands of the winemakers. This Bordeaux blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Malbec, and 6% Petit Verdot was aged in 85% new and 15% used French oak barrels for just over 22 months. Additionally, this wonderful sixth vintage has been allowed six more months in bottle to blend and mature even more gracefully. Estate grown here on the Schramsberg property, the wine has become a true expression of our Diamond Mountain hillside vineyards. Only 2,047 cases were produced, with magnums and three liters also available in limited quantities. 92 Points 94 Points |
