The 2006 Harvest is underway.  On Monday, August 28th, our first Chardonnay grapes from the Stanley Ranch Vineyard in Carneros are being crushed at the winery.

So far, Craig Roemer, our vineyard manager, tells us that that the quality looks terrific. The harvest is starting later than average because late bud break in the spring. Also, several hot days in July where the temperatures exceeded 100 degrees didn’t excel the grape growth or maturation. In the past, late start of harvests created beautiful sparkling wines because the grapes benefited from longer “hang time”.
