50th Anniversary of the “Toast to Peace”

On February 25, 1972, a young Barbara Walters did a news segment on the Today Show, while standing in Tiananmen Square, in Beijing, China. She spoke on-air while holding a bottle of Schramsberg’s 1969 Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs, as she reported on the “Toast of Peace” that was given by President Nixon, to China’s Premier Zhou Enlai, during the State Dinner that had just occurred during Nixon’s trip to China.

This coming February 25 marks the 50th anniversary of that moment in history, and when Schramsberg Vineyards was once introduced on national TV as a “little known winery in Calistoga.” Since this moment in time, we are very honored that our wines have been served at over 90 official State and White House functions, being presented to some of our country’s and the world’s top dignitaries throughout these 50 years.

In honor of this moment in history, we are planning various events and winemaker dinners throughout 2022, where our fans will be able to join Vintner Hugh Davies and celebrate with him.

We are actively planning events in the following areas:

  • Las Vegas, NV
  • New York, NY
  • Miami, FL
  • Washington, DC
  • Dallas, TX
  • Los Angeles, CA

We invite you to watch for upcoming events in your area, as we add events to our 50th Anniversary “Toast to Peace” tour.
